Basement Stories is a magazine run by a couple of die hard science fiction and fantasy stories. We don't have a lot of money. Actually, we don't really have any money at all. But despite our lack of funds, we are absolutely committed to paying our authors at a decent rate, and to provide great free online stories, poems, and reviews for you, the reader.
That's where you come in. Many small press magazines rely on the generosity of their readers to pay for upkeep of their websites, author payments, and print publications. Without these wonderful fans, many online magazines with great content wouldn't exist - Escape Pod, Fantasy Magazine, Drabblecast, Strange Horizons, and Clarkesworld to name a few. A donation of only five or ten dollars makes a big difference for us.
Ninety percent of all donations go directly towards paying our authors. The rest goes towards paying for hosting for our website.
